Annabelle likes to find herself in mirrors almost as much as she enjoys playing with her toes. She also is at the stage where she puts everything in her mouth.

Annabelle really wants to stand up and walk. If she's sitting, she'll pull up and try to let go. If you try to put her down, she locks her legs straight so that you are just holding her in standing position instead of sitting. The day she turned eight months was the first time I saw her pull up in her crib (but not the first time she pulled-up -- she's been using me as a crutch before). We've had to lower her crib mattress for safety.

One thing Bella doesn't do yet is babble. She coos (vowel sounds: "aaah" and "oooh"), and she does make one consonant ("mmmm"), but she doesn't yet put them together to make babbling sounds ("baba" or "dada"). Maybe that's because Big Sister is always talking for her, so she doesn't need speech. Maybe it's because she has had so much fluid in her ears. We'll have to ask Dr. Tim about it at her nine-month check-up next week. She's probably fine, but you know us Mommies have to make sure. Bella does communicate with lots of arm flapping, though; sometimes I almost expect she'll lift herself off the ground and fly.

I'll probably paint Gabi's new room a lighter lavender and then paint some butterflies on unframed canvas to hang on the wall rather than painting a border again. I think it will look more modern and also make the house easier to sell. (No, I will NOT paint over my butterfly border in this house just because we are selling it!) I hope she likes her new room as much as she likes her room here.

Babies sure are cute when they get to that arm-flapping stage. It's like they've figured out they have arms and hands, but NO ONE TOLD THEM ABOUT ELBOWS, so they just flap away from the shoulder. Adorable.
I like the yellowy-green (far left in the first row) a lot, but my uninformed worry is how well it would age. The middle blue is my favorite of the blues. I like the yellow, but would like it more if it were a little warmer/orangey. ("Then paint your own darn kitchen yellow, MB" is a perfectly understandable response.) Still a fan of the red.
All of the colors you've selected are good choices, to my mind, so it's just a matter of what you like best.
It might be useful (or at least fun) to Photoshop what the colors would look like under a typical indoor lighting set-up. What looks good with natural lighting might look dull or harsh under electric lights.
I vote for blue 2!
Kirstin and I have a kind of gold/yellow color in our kitchen and it works pretty well. It's bright and cheerful, and happens to be similar to the color of most batters and oils. It also looks good in both sunlight and with incandescent bulbs.
So, I vote heartily for the warmer yellows.

I'm not sure if you've been here (or a site like it) where you can delve into different paint colors, they'r kinda fun if you have free time (free time? whats that?)
tho of the colors you've displayed so far, i think i like the middle blue the best (which is probly the one you've wanted all along! yay! your instinct is fantastic!)
i like the middle blue or the orange. i wish i could explain, its just my gut reaction to the photos :) have fun! (be careful with the painting -- my parents still havent stopped telling the story about how, while they were painting the living room, they thought i swallowed a nail (i was three or so, and they thought i was safely tucked away). they kept asking me,'did you eat the nail?' and i kept saying, 'i dont know.' they took me to the emergency room and the doctors took x-rays, but they didnt find anything. and the nail never turned up. :P)
Of the choices you offer I prefer the middle blue color. I personally don't care for the primary or pastel colors. I've really enjoyed the deeper red I have in my dining room. And the beigy yellow in my kitchen looks cheery to me. A deeper green would be nice. Remember to consider what colors would compliment your den furniture since it will be visible from the kitchen (& visa versa).

Hi Sis...so I just consulted one of my best friend's at work as she and her husband own a pain contracting color. Lorrie does consulting help clients figure out a color palette then Vadim with his team do the painting. They do commercial and residential throughout Seattle so are extremely reliable - and in the Seattle spirit, they use all Low VOC and green friendly paints.
She recommends going to the Rodda store and using their Horizon paint. http://www.roddapaint.com/ps_horizon.asp It's Low VOC, low odor, less harmful to the environment, etc. She said to use eggshell or matte because satin and the higher glosses show every mistake.
Her color suggestion as she knows all about you, saw all the blog pictures, and knows the biz - is avocado green. She said that you'll want to do one shade darker (one shade to the right or below on a color swatches) for the section below your wainscoting. She said that yellow is pretty tough as it never comes out the way people expect it to. She also said to be wary to paint your walls your favorite color because everything you try to complement it with will clash (b/c everything you buy is in your favorite color!). She said avocado would be good because you can complement it with blue, brown, black, gray - pretty much anything you would put with it. She also saw your backsplash, countertop, and cabinets and said that avocado would be perfect.
I agree with her whole-heartedly. But that's just our opinion from Seattle. You'll pick the perfect color I'm sure. :)
